For this mural, I was one of  3 students, lead by a professional artist, Brandon Donahue, to paint a mural as a dedication to the late David C. Drsikell.

"A new mural in Cole Field House, home to the David C. Driskell Center, honors the life of the late David C. Driskell, renowned artist and scholar of Black American art, and longtime University of Maryland professor of art. Designed by David C. Driskell Center then-artist-in-residence Brandon Donahue, the 9-foot-tall, 35-foot-wide mural honors Driskell’s own background and bold, colorful art.

“I started to read about his life, his upbringing, and I thought it would be really cool to retell that story through one mural,” said Donahue....Three undergraduate art students helped Donahue paint the mural over the course of several months, an experience Boma Tende ’21 said interested her because her own artistic interest in focusing on Black women was in line with Driskell’s “own legacy and all he did for the Black community, especially in the arts,” she said."
